the home of the Ilsley family. Charles Ilsley was listed as a ‘farmer, timber dealer, & brick & tile maker’ in a Sherborne St John directory for 1855. His son William Ilsley took over as the farmer and brick maker at Kiln Farm. at St Mary, Reading, Berkshire (FamilySearch Historical Records online).
Ann’s birthplace appears to be the village of Charney Bassett now in Oxfordshire.
William married his second wife Sarah Ann Rogers on 30 April 1867 in
Stratfield Saye, Hampshire. The marriage register recorded the
details as William Ilsley, aged 35, widower, farmer, residence:
